The German Musicological Society (GfM) is the academic association of musicologists based in Germany who carry out academic teaching and research. We offer a forum for information and exchange of ideas for all those interested in concepts and questions regarding Music History, Ethnomusicology, and Systematic Musicology. At present, approximately 1,600 members within Germany and beyond are members of the GfM. The Society also promotes musicological research in collaboration with other academic fields. In addition, one of the prime tasks of the Society is seen in the communication of knowledge in all areas of music to a wider public.
